Because of its basic trapping and skinning blades and its light weight, it is a must-have knife for those who trap small game. It is a jack knife with two full length blades; a slender Clip and a long Spey. The Clip blade is commonly used as a multi-purpose blade and preferred for detail work while the Spey blade is commonly used as an all-purpose utility blade. The Case Trapper 12270 Burlap Micarta is made of 1095 high carbon steel. Our 1095 steel is part of a class of steels where carbon is the principal alloying element that gives the steel high tensile strength, wear resistance and toughness. Closely resembling our CV blades, our CS steel is also known for its edge retention and ease of re-sharpening while also being susceptible to tarnishing and rusting compared to stainless steel when exposed to air and moisture.
