Carpenter® Technology’s Micro-Melt® Maxamet is an extraordinary tool steel that was specially formulated to roll red-hot steel billets in Carpenter’s steel mills. Spyderco is the only knife company to have mastered this demanding material well enough to feature it prominently in our production knives. The latest addition to our elite Maxamet family is this Sage 5 Lightweight. It showcases this incredibly hard, ultra-tough material in its full-flat-ground blade and houses it within a lightweight, Bi-Directional Textured handle. All other features are consistent with the standard version of this model, including nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners, a high-strength Compression Lock, injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scales, and a reversible deep-pocket wire pocket clip.
