The short version
OSS America earns a commission on some of the brands and products we link to. When you click through and buy, the brand may pay us a percentage of that sale. You pay nothing extra. The price you see is the price the brand sets.
Why we tell you this
Because we'd want to know. The FTC requires it. Honesty requires it. And because we built this hub on the idea that American outdoor brands deserve a marketplace that doesn't hide its incentives behind a confusing terms page.
What this does NOT change
The brands we feature, the products we list, and the field tests we publish are chosen on merit — never on commission rate. A brand that pays us a higher rate gets the same scrutiny as one that pays us nothing. The OSS Standard is the gate; the commercial terms come second.
How a typical purchase works
- You browse a category or brand storefront on ossamerica.com.
- You click a product card. Depending on the brand, that takes you to either an on-site checkout or directly to the brand's own website.
- Your purchase is fulfilled by the brand. They handle shipping, customer service, returns, and warranty.
- If the brand has an affiliate or referral program with OSS America, they pay us a small commission on that sale. You pay the same price you would have paid going direct.
Editorial independence
No brand can buy a featured spot, a category badge, or a positive review. Sponsored placements — when they happen — are clearly marked. The crew's field tests are the crew's opinions, not a brand's marketing copy.
