The iconic snake gun with the smoothest double-action trigger ever mass-produced. Colt discontinued the Python in 1999 and brought it back in 2020 — the current run is what Harry would carry today.

Scene: The NYC Continental antique-weapons room at the opening of Chapter 3 — Wick field-assembles a working revolver from parts of two Remington 1875s plus a Colt 1851 Navy barrel and drops an attacker with a single .44-40. Direct homage to Tuco's scene in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

On-screen modifications: Field-built hybrid: Remington 1875 frame + second Remington's cylinder + Colt 1851 Navy barrel

Uberti still makes the 1875 Army Outlaw in .357 Mag, .44-40 Winchester, and .45 Colt. The original Remington production ended in 1889 — Uberti is the only path to a shootable modern 1875.

The specific 2" PC Carry variant Harbinger uses is discontinued. The closest current 2026 S&W Performance Center equivalent is the base PC Model 327 (5" barrel). No currently-produced 1:1 compact 8-shot .357 exists — that's part of what made Harbinger's revolver feel so rare on screen.

Scene: The Ruska Roma church entrance in Berlin — Wick hands over his weapons before meeting the Director. The Webley Mk VI is one of the 'old-fashioned' handguns placed on the tray alongside a Walther P38.

The original Webley Mk VI has been out of production since 1923. Webley & Scott today only makes air rifles and shotguns. The only path to a shootable .455 Mk VI is the surplus / C&R collector market — Rock Island Auction, Collectors Firearms, or similar. Expect $500-$1,200 depending on condition.

Scene: Background frame in the Continental tailor's workshop — almost unseen in the film itself, but confirmed by IMFDB contributors as a Model 629 Classic on the workbench.

A blink-and-you-miss-it background appearance. Including for completeness because IMFDB confirmed the SKU. The 629 Classic is the modern production version of Smith & Wesson's iconic .44 Magnum N-frame — the same platform Dirty Harry made famous as the Model 29.

The John Wick effect — why Hollywood firearms training matters

What sets the John Wick franchise apart from every other action movie in the last 20 years isn't the choreography. It's that the shooters on screen are actually shooting. Keanu Reeves trained under Taran Butler at Taran Tactical Innovations for months before Chapter 1. By Chapter 3, Reeves was performing 3-Gun-competition-grade transitions on film in single takes — no camera cuts, no CGI-added muzzle flash, no dubbed-in gunshots to cover for a jerked trigger pull.

That's why gun owners recognize every pistol in every scene. Because the pistols aren't props. They're the tools the shooter chose, configured, and trained on for that specific fight. When John transitions from empty pistol to fresh pistol in 0.4 seconds during the JW2 catacomb fight, that transition was real. When he does a "New York reload" — dropping the empty gun and drawing a fresh one from his belt — it's the same technique competitive shooters use in every practical pistol match.

Are these all real firearms or Hollywood props?

Real firearms. The John Wick franchise uses functional weapons throughout — most from Independent Studio Services (ISS) or Taran Tactical. Blanks are used on screen, of course, but the actual pistols, rifles, and shotguns are production or custom-tuned production units. That's part of why Reeves's reloads look so authentic — he's manipulating real ergonomics and real recoil.

Can I buy the exact Taran Tactical custom pistols from Chapter 3?

Some, yes — with a waitlist and a check north of $6,000. TTI released production runs of the "John Wick 2011 Combat Master" through STI (now Staccato). Availability comes and goes; expect to pay full retail plus a premium.

Are the fully-automatic weapons in the movies civilian-legal?

Mostly no. Any fully-automatic firearm manufactured after May 19, 1986 cannot be legally sold to civilians in the US under the Firearm Owners Protection Act. Pre-1986 registered transferables are legal but rare and expensive (often $30,000+ for common models). Every semi-auto civilian equivalent we link to is either an existing production SKU or, in a few cases, a pistol/carbine variant of the movie firearm.

Did John Wick really do all his own reloads?

Yes. Reeves trained enough hours to become a genuinely accomplished competition-grade practical shooter.
