Best 10mm Pistols (2026): 8 Picks From $600 to Colt

A 10mm gives you more power than a 9mm in a pistol you can still carry on your belt, and that's why "best 10mm pistol" is the top related Google search for 10mm pistols right now. The hard part is that every maker now has a 10mm, and the prices run from about $600 to well over $1,000 for guns that look similar on paper.

We compared the eight 10mm pistols that matter most right now: the Glock 20 everyone asks about, the polymer guns from Smith & Wesson, SIG, Springfield and FN, and three steel 1911s from Rock Island, Ruger and Colt. Every price below is a real, new, in-stock listing on Guns.com checked on October 9, 2026, and every spec comes from the maker unless we say otherwise. This is a research guide, not a hands-on test.

The short answer

For most people, the Glock 20 V MOS is the 10mm to beat. Our picks:

Prices are the lowest new listings on Guns.com on October 9, 2026, before tax, shipping and your dealer's transfer fee. Every link opens a Guns.com search already filtered to 10mm.

How we chose

Nobody at OSS America fired these pistols for this guide. We started with what people are searching for. In Google's related searches for "10mm pistol" over the last 30 days, "best 10mm pistol" was the top query, followed closely by "10mm pistol glock," with SIG, Smith & Wesson and FN close behind. Then we checked which of those pistols Guns.com actually had new and in stock on October 9, 2026, and pulled every spec from the maker's own site: Glock, Smith & Wesson, SIG Sauer, Springfield Armory, FN, Rock Island (Armscor), Ruger and Colt.

We looked at capacity, weight, barrel length, optics readiness, sights and trigger and the lowest new price. A few popular guns didn't make it: there were no new Glock 29s in stock on Guns.com that day, the only new Glock 40s were priced around $3,000 (far above normal), and we couldn't find new in-stock Springfield 1911 TRP or Prodigy pistols in 10mm.

Guns.com prices are the lowest new, in-stock listing we found for each model in 10mm on October 9, 2026, rechecked October 14, 2026. Guns.com is a marketplace and prices change daily; prices are before tax, shipping and your dealer's transfer fee. Glock weight is with an empty magazine. Colt weight and barrel are from the Guns.com listing; everything else is from the maker. Glock and SIG don't show an MSRP on the pages we checked.

What you pay vs. what it holds: lowest new Guns.com price on October 14, 2026, rounds per magazine and the cost per round of capacity, cheapest first. Save it or pin it.

How to read the chart: the four cheapest guns also hold the most rounds. The Springfield, Smith & Wesson, Rock Island and Glock all land around $38 to $50 for every round of magazine capacity. The 1911s from Ruger and Colt cost more than three times as much per round. With those you're paying for steel and a 1911 trigger, not capacity. The Glock costs a little more than the cheapest three, but it's one of the lightest guns here and has the biggest holster and parts support, and that's why it's our top pick.

Glock 20 V MOS

Best 10mm pistol overall

Glock 20 V MOS 10mm pistol
Glock 20 V MOS. Photo: Guns.com listing.

Guns.com, new: from about $745 · Capacity: 15+1 · Weight: 28.4 oz with empty magazine

Search "10mm pistol" and Glock is the name that comes up right behind "best." That makes sense. The Glock 20 has been the default full-size 10mm for a long time, and the new V MOS version keeps everything people liked about it while adding the features buyers now expect: a slide cut for a red dot, front slide serrations and an ambidextrous slide stop.

Glock lists the G20 V MOS with a 4.61-inch Glock Marksman Barrel, a 15-round standard magazine and a weight of 28.40 oz with an empty magazine (37.21 oz loaded). That's light for a gun that holds 16 rounds of 10mm. The MOS cut takes red dots through adapter plates, and Glock's Safe Action system uses three passive safeties that disengage in order as you press the trigger. There's no manual thumb safety.

On October 14, 2026, the lowest new G20 V MOS on Guns.com was from about $745, with a "free can" promotion on the listing. Be careful with the other Glock 20 listings in the same search: a few new Gen 4 and Gen 5 guns were priced at $2,000 and up, far above what the V MOS costs.

  • + Huge holster, magazine and parts support

Cons

  • − Large grip for smaller hands
  • − No manual safety (a plus for some, a minus for others)
  • − Other Glock 20 listings on Guns.com were priced far higher, so check the model before you buy

Smith & Wesson M&P 10mm M2.0 Optic Ready

Best value 10mm

Smith & Wesson M&P 10mm M2.0 Optic Ready 10mm pistol
Smith & Wesson M&P 10mm M2.0 Optic Ready. Photo: Smith & Wesson.

Guns.com, new: from about $610 · MSRP: $699.00 · Weight: 29.3 oz

The M&P 10mm M2.0 gives you almost everything the Glock does for less money, plus a few things it doesn't. Smith & Wesson lists the optics-ready model (13387) with a 4.6-inch barrel, a 15-round magazine and a weight of 29.3 oz. The slide comes cut for an optic, and the M2.0 flat-face trigger gives your finger the same spot on every press.

Fit is where the M&P stands out. It ships with four palmswell grip inserts (S, M, ML and L), so you can change how the grip fills your hand. Smith & Wesson also points to the low bore axis, an 18-degree grip angle and a stainless steel chassis inside the frame to cut flex and muzzle rise.

Smith & Wesson's price is $699.00. On October 9, Guns.com had the 13387 new from about $610, with the FDE and 4-inch versions within about $20 of that. If you want a manual thumb safety, S&W makes versions with one; check the listing before you check out.

SIG Sauer P320-XTEN

Best 10mm for hunting and red dots

SIG Sauer P320-XTEN 10mm pistol
SIG Sauer P320-XTEN. Photo: Guns.com listing.

Guns.com, new: from about $830 · Capacity: 15 · Weight: 33 oz

SIG built the P320-XTEN "for shooters and hunters," and the spec sheet backs that up. It has a 5-inch bull barrel, a grip module made just for 10mm and .45 Auto, XRAY3 day/night sights and SIG's flat X trigger with a 90-degree break. Every XTEN is optics-ready, and SIG says the slide works with its ROMEO2 red dot, which it designed to stand up to 10mm recoil, and with the Trijicon RMR (with a sealing plate).

SIG lists the 15-round 320X5-10-BXR3-R2 at 33 oz, 8.5 inches long and 5.6 inches tall, with a stainless Nitron slide and an M1913 accessory rail. It's the heaviest polymer pistol here, and its 5-inch barrel is the longest of the polymer guns. That's a fair trade if you want more sight radius and velocity for handgun hunting, or a steadier gun to shoot with a dot. One more thing to know: SIG says XTEN parts work only with .45 and 10mm P320 parts, not 9mm, .357 or .40.

On October 9, new XTENs on Guns.com started from about $830, for both the standard and manual-safety versions. Compensated XTEN Comp models with 3.8-inch barrels started around $930.

Pros

  • + Optics-ready, works with ROMEO2 and RMR
  • + Day/night sights standard
  • + Manual-safety version at the same price

Cons

  • − Heaviest polymer gun here at 33 oz
  • − Long for concealed carry
  • − Shares parts only with .45 P320s

Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 4.5" OSP 10mm

Most capacity for the money

Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 4.5" OSP 10mm 10mm pistol
Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 4.5" OSP 10mm. Photo: Springfield Armory.

Guns.com, new: from about $610 · MSRP: $674.00 · Capacity: 16+1

If you want the most rounds of 10mm in a polymer gun without spending more, the XD-M Elite 4.5" OSP is the one. Springfield lists it at 16+1, one more than the Glock, M&P or SIG, with two 16-round magazines in the box.

Springfield's spec sheet shows a 4.5-inch hammer-forged barrel with a Melonite finish and a 1:16 twist, a forged steel slide cut for optics, a fiber-optic front sight, a Tactical Rack U-Dot rear sight and a weight of 31 oz. The Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly (META) has a flat face and a built-in overtravel stop, and the flared magwell comes off if you don't want it. The XD-M also keeps Springfield's grip safety, which some shooters like as an extra safety and others don't.

MSRP is $674.00. On October 9, Guns.com had it new from about $610, and the shorter 3.8-inch XD-M Elite Compact (11 rounds) was about $590.

FN 510 MRD

Best premium striker 10mm

FN 510 MRD. Photo: FN America.

Guns.com, new: from about $835 (15-round version) · MSRP: $930 to $1,099 · Weight: 31 oz

FN's 510 MRD is the 10mm for buyers who want a striker gun with premium touches. FN lists a 4.1-inch cold hammer-forged, target-crowned barrel, a slide cut for most optics using FN's Low-Profile Optics Mounting System (four plates included), steel sights that co-witness with most dots, interchangeable backstraps and fully ambidextrous slide stop and magazine release controls.

FN's spec sheet shows 31.0 oz, 7.7 inches long and a trigger pull of about 5.5 to 7.7 pounds, with the 15-round version holding 15+1. The shorter barrel keeps it a bit more compact than the Glock or SIG, but at 1.45 inches it's wider than the Glock (1.38) or the M&P (1.3). FN's MSRP runs from $930 to $1,099 across the 510 MRD line.

On October 14, the 15-round 510 MRD was from about $835 new on Guns.com (on October 9 it showed its price only in the cart). The 10-round version, made for states with magazine limits, was about $860.

Rock Island Armory Rock Ultra HC 10mm

Best budget 10mm

Rock Island Armory Rock Ultra HC 10mm. Photo: Rock Island Armory (Armscor).

Guns.com, new: from about $670 · MSRP: $695.00 · Capacity: 16

The cheapest steel 1911 in this guide is also a surprise: a double-stack, all-steel 1911 that holds 16 rounds. Rock Island's Rock Ultra HC (52009) is built in the classic 70-series style with a 5-inch button-rifled barrel, a full-length guide rod, a fiber-optic front sight and a low-profile adjustable rear sight, plus G10 grips and an ambidextrous safety.

Armscor lists it at 2.5 lb (about 40 oz), 8.74 inches long and a 4- to 6-pound trigger. That weight is the trade-off. It's nearly 12 ounces heavier than the Glock, which makes it softer to shoot but more of a load on your belt all day. If you'd rather have a slimmer single-stack 1911, the 8-round Rock Ultra FS was listed at about $615 on October 14.

Armscor's MSRP is $695.00. On October 14, Guns.com had the HC new from about $670.

Ruger SR1911 Target 10mm

Best 10mm 1911 for the range

Ruger SR1911 Target 10mm 10mm pistol
Ruger SR1911 Target 10mm. Photo: Ruger.

Guns.com, new: from about $1,050 · MSRP: $1,329.00 · Weight: 40.4 oz

Ruger's SR1911 Target in 10mm is an all-stainless 1911 with adjustable target sights, made for shooters who care most about a crisp trigger and a steady gun. Ruger lists a 5-inch bushing-less stainless bull barrel, a full-length guide rod, an aluminum skeletonized trigger, a titanium firing pin, an oversized beavertail and an extended thumb safety.

The model 6739 holds 8+1 and weighs 40.4 oz. That bull barrel puts weight up front, which Ruger says helps control recoil. You give up capacity compared with the polymer guns, but a heavy steel 1911 is pleasant to shoot with full-power 10mm loads.

Ruger's suggested retail is $1,329.00, and Ruger currently marks this model "Currently Unavailable" on its own site. Guns.com still had it new from about $1,050 on October 9, so if you want one, don't wait too long.

  • − Heavy for all-day carry

Colt Delta Elite

The classic 10mm

Colt Delta Elite 10mm pistol
Colt Delta Elite. Photo: Colt.

Guns.com, new: from about $1,150 · MSRP: $1,349.00 · Capacity: 8+1

The Delta Elite is the pistol a lot of shooters think of first when they hear "10mm 1911," and Colt still makes it. Colt's site lists the Delta Elite (O2020XE) at $1,349.00 with 8+1 capacity in 10mm Auto, alongside a railed version and a two-tone version.

Colt's page doesn't list weight or barrel length, so those come from the Guns.com listing: a 5-inch barrel, stainless finish and 2.4 lb. The listing also describes Novak white-dot sights, an upswept beavertail grip safety, an extended thumb safety and composite grips with Colt's red Delta medallions, with one 8-round magazine in the box.

On October 9, Guns.com had a new Delta Elite from about $1,150, about $200 under Colt's price. You're paying for the name as much as the specs.

Which should you buy?

What to look for in a 10mm pistol

  • How you'll carry it. A 10mm is a big gun. If it rides on a chest rig or a belt in the woods, weight matters more than capacity. The Glock (28.4 oz with an empty magazine) and M&P (29.3 oz) are the lightest here; the steel 1911s run 38 to 40 oz.
  • Capacity vs. recoil. Polymer guns hold 15 or 16 rounds but kick more because they're light. Heavy steel 1911s hold 8 or 16 and are softer to shoot. Pick the trade-off that fits you.
  • Optics. Glock, S&W, SIG, Springfield and FN all sell optics-ready 10mms. A red dot can make longer handgun shots easier. See our best red dot sights guide, and look for a dot rated for heavy recoil.
  • Grip size. 10mm frames are bigger than 9mm frames. Swappable backstraps (M&P, FN) help. If a 10mm feels too big, a 9mm may be the better choice; see our best 9mm pistols guide.
  • Ammo you can practice with. 10mm ammo costs more and kicks more than 9mm. Budget for enough practice ammo to get comfortable before you rely on the gun.

Buying a pistol online from Guns.com

You pay online, Guns.com ships the pistol to the licensed dealer (FFL) you choose, and you pick it up with a valid ID after the dealer runs the required background check. Some listings can't ship to certain states, and many states limit magazine capacity, so check the listing first. Our Is Guns.com legit? guide walks through fees and the whole process.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best 10mm pistol?

For most people, the Glock 20 V MOS. Glock lists it at 28.4 oz with an empty magazine and 15+1 capacity, it's optics-ready, and it was from about $745 new on Guns.com on October 14, 2026. If you want to spend less, the Smith & Wesson M&P 10mm M2.0 was from about $615 the same day.

What is the cheapest new 10mm pistol worth buying?

On October 14, 2026, the lowest new 10mm in this guide was the Springfield XD-M Elite, from about $610 with 16+1 rounds, with the S&W M&P 10mm M2.0 (from about $615) right behind. The Rock Island Rock Ultra HC, a 16-round steel 1911, was from about $670.

Is a 10mm good for bear defense?

Many hunters and hikers carry a 10mm in bear country because it's more powerful than 9mm or .45 ACP in a pistol that holds a lot of rounds. Shot placement and the right hard-cast or deep-penetrating load matter more than the gun. Practice with that load, and check the rules where you hike or hunt. Many people also carry bear spray.

Glock 20 or Glock 29?

The Glock 20 is the full-size model with a 4.61-inch barrel and 15-round magazine. The Glock 29 is the subcompact version. We left the 29 out because Guns.com had no new ones in stock on October 9, 2026. If you need a smaller 10mm, look at the 3.8-inch Springfield XD-M Elite Compact (11 rounds, about $590 that day).

Can you hunt with a 10mm pistol?

Many states allow handgun hunting with 10mm for deer and similar game, but rules on calibers, barrel length and energy vary by state. Check your state's regulations first. A longer barrel and a red dot, like on the SIG P320-XTEN, can help with accuracy at hunting distances.

Is 10mm too much recoil for a beginner?

It kicks more than 9mm. A heavier gun helps: the steel Rock Island, Ruger and Colt 1911s weigh 38 to 40 oz, while the polymer guns weigh 28 to 33 oz. If you're new to handguns, start with lighter 10mm loads or a 9mm and work up.

Which 10mm pistols hold the most rounds?

In this guide, the Springfield XD-M Elite 4.5" OSP (16+1) and the Rock Island Rock Ultra HC (16). The Glock 20, M&P 10mm, SIG P320-XTEN and FN 510 MRD hold 15 in their standard magazines.

Can I buy a 10mm pistol online?

Yes. You buy online and the pistol ships to a licensed dealer (FFL) you choose. You pick it up in person with ID after the required background check. State and local laws, including magazine limits, still apply.

The bottom line

Buy the Glock 20 V MOS if you want one light, high-capacity 10mm that's easy to find holsters and parts for. Buy the M&P 10mm M2.0 if you want nearly the same thing for less and a grip you can size to your hand. And if you hunt with a handgun, the SIG P320-XTEN gives you the longest barrel and a dot-ready slide. Whatever you pick, practice with the exact load you plan to carry, and keep your pistol locked up at home; see our pistol safe guide.
