Best Portable Fridge Freezers (2026): 7 Picks for Camping, Trucks and Overlanding

A cooler full of ice gives you two or three days before everything floats in cold water. A 12-volt compressor fridge keeps food at a set temperature for as long as it has power, and it can freeze. That's why "portable fridge freezer," "car fridge" and "12V portable fridge" are among the most-searched gear terms this month, and why "portable fridge for camping" is up 50%.

The hard part is choosing. Prices run from about $200 to nearly $900, and the specs that matter (zones, battery options, power draw, weight) are scattered across maker pages. So we pulled them into one place. Below are the seven best portable fridges you can buy right now, ranked, with every price checked on October 8, 2026 and an original chart showing what each quart of cold space really costs. This is a research guide built from maker specs, store listings and owner ratings, not a hands-on test.

The short answer

For most people: the EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 45L. Our picks:

Prices checked October 8, 2026, before tax and shipping.

How we chose

Nobody at OSS America ran these fridges for this guide. We started with what people are searching: over the last 30 days, "portable fridge freezer," "car fridge," "portable fridge cooler," "12V portable fridge" and "best portable fridge" lead the related searches, and "Dometic portable fridge" shows up by name. We then looked for compressor fridges (not thermoelectric coolers) sold by stores we can link to with live prices. We checked EcoFlow and BLUETTI directly first; Sportsman's Warehouse and KingCamp don't sell powered fridges right now, so the Dometic, ICECO and BougeRV picks link to Amazon.

For each fridge we recorded the price and stock on October 8, 2026, the maker's capacity, temperature range, weight, power-use figures and battery options, plus owner ratings where the store shows them. If a maker didn't publish a number, we say so rather than guess.

Best portable fridges 2026 chart: price per quart on October 8, 2026 (BougeRV CR28 $6.92, ICECO VL45 ProS $12.61, EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 55L $14.61, BLUETTI MultiCooler $16.64, EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 45L $16.79, Dometic CFX2 45L $18.49, EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 35L $18.89) with capacity in quarts
What each quart of cold space costs, fridge only. Prices October 8, 2026. Save it or pin it.

How to read the chart: we divided each fridge's price (without a battery) by its capacity in quarts. The BougeRV is the clear budget winner, and the ICECO is the cheapest way into a full-size, 45-liter-class fridge. Bigger fridges usually cost less per quart, which is why the EcoFlow 55L beats the 45L and 35L on this measure. It isn't a quality score, though: battery options, dual zones and vehicle-battery protection all cost extra.

EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 45L Portable Fridge Freezer

Best portable fridge freezer overall

EcoFlow: about $799 for the fridge alone ($799.00 on October 8, 2026; list price $849.00)

"Portable fridge freezer" is the single biggest search in this category this month, and the GLACIER Classic 45L is the most complete answer we found at a store we can link to. It's a compressor fridge with a true dual-zone layout: two compartments you can set separately, so the left side can hold frozen meat while the right keeps drinks and produce cold. EcoFlow says the two zones can sit up to 39.6°F apart, across a full range of -4°F to 68°F.

The feature that sets it apart from most 12-volt fridges is the optional 298Wh GLACIER Plug-in Battery, which slides into the fridge itself. EcoFlow rates it for up to 39 hours at 39°F (tested at 77°F in Eco mode). That means you can carry it from the truck to the campsite, or leave it in a hot garage during a blackout, and it keeps running with no cord at all. On October 8, 2026, EcoFlow listed the 45L with two plug-in batteries at $799.00, the same price as the fridge alone, which made the bundle the obvious buy that day. Deals like that change, so check before you order.

Power use is published, which not every brand does: EcoFlow lists 165 Wh per 24 hours to hold 39°F and 520 Wh per 24 hours to freeze at about 0°F, both at 77°F ambient. It charges from the included AC adapter, a 12/24V car socket (100W max) or solar (up to 110W). It's rated IPX4 and EcoFlow quotes under 38.5 dB. The catch is weight: 51 pounds empty is a two-hand carry. On cost per quart it lands mid-pack at $16.79.

Capacity45 L (about 47.6 qt), 72 x 330 ml cans
ZonesDual zone
Temperature range-4°F to 68°F; zones can differ by up to 39.6°F
Power use (EcoFlow)165 Wh/24h at 39°F; 520 Wh/24h freezing

ChargingAC 95W, car 12/24V 100W, solar 110W
Size / weight27.8 x 15.8 x 18.9 in; 51 lb

Pros

  • + True dual zone: freezer and fridge at once
  • + Slide-in battery option for cord-free cooling
  • + Published power-use numbers
  • + IPX4 and app control

Cons

  • − 51 lb empty
  • − Battery adds cost unless a bundle is running
  • − Brand-new lineup with few store reviews so far (EcoFlow's page showed 1)

Dometic CFX2 45L Electric Cooler

Best for vehicle-battery overlanding

Dometic CFX2 45L Electric Cooler portable fridge freezer
Dometic CFX2 45L. Photo: Amazon listing.

Amazon: about $880 ($879.99 on October 8, 2026, shipped and sold by Amazon.com)

Dometic is the name most overlanders already know, and "Dometic portable fridge" shows up on its own in this month's searches. The CFX2 45L is the current mid-size model. Dometic rates it to hold 60 twelve-ounce cans, with a range of -7°F to 68°F, which reaches a little colder than the EcoFlow.

The reason to pick it is the 3-stage battery protection, which watches your vehicle battery and shuts the fridge down before it drains it, plus Dometic's Bluetooth Mobile Cooling app. It runs on 12/24V DC or 100-240V AC. There's no internal battery and no battery option on this model, so it's built to live in a truck bed, a drawer system or an RV, wired to the vehicle.

Two honest notes. First, Amazon lists 36.6 pounds, the lightest 45-liter unit here, but Dometic doesn't publish a power-use figure on the listing, so we can't compare its draw with EcoFlow's numbers. Second, it's the priciest 45-liter fridge in this guide at $18.49 per quart. The Amazon rating (4.5/5 from 157 ratings) is shared across the CFX2 sizes on that listing.

Capacity45 L (about 47.6 qt), 60 x 12 oz cans
ZonesSingle compartment
Temperature range-7°F to 68°F
Power12/24V DC, 100-240V AC; no internal battery
Battery protection3-stage, monitors vehicle battery draw
Size / weight26.69 W x 15.79 D x 19.41 H in (Amazon); 36.6 lb
Owner rating4.5/5 from 157 Amazon ratings

Pros

  • + Lightest 45-liter fridge here
  • + Freezes down to -7°F
  • + Vehicle-battery protection and Bluetooth app
  • + Sold and shipped by Amazon

Cons

  • − Highest cost per quart of the 45-liter group
  • − No internal or plug-in battery option
  • − No power-use figure on the listing

ICECO VL45 ProS Portable Refrigerator

Best value 45-liter fridge (steel body)

ICECO VL45 ProS Portable Refrigerator portable fridge freezer
ICECO VL45 ProS. Photo: ICECO's Amazon listing.

Amazon: about $599 ($599.20 on October 8, 2026, list $749.00; sold by ICECO)

If you want a full-size 12V fridge without paying EcoFlow or Dometic prices, the ICECO VL45 ProS is the one that stood out. It was $599.20 on Amazon on October 8, 2026, which works out to $12.61 per quart, the lowest of any 45-liter fridge in this guide. (ICECO's own store had the version with a cover at $694.40, so Amazon was the better deal that day.)

ICECO builds it around a SECOP compressor and a steel body meant to take road vibration and gear shifting in a truck bed, and backs the compressor with a 5-year warranty (1 year on other parts). The lid opens from either side without tools, there are 12/24V DC ports on both ends and a built-in AC transformer, and ICECO says it keeps working at up to 40 degrees of tilt. Range is 0°F to 50°F; ICECO's listing graphic puts power use at 0.715 kWh per 24 hours running at 0°F in Max mode.

Owners rate it 4.7 out of 5 from 134 ratings on Amazon. The trade-offs: it's heavy (52.2 pounds per ICECO's listing graphic), single-zone, and the estimated delivery on October 8, 2026 was October 23 to 29, so order early if you need it for a specific trip.

Capacity47.5 qt (45 L)
ZonesSingle zone
Temperature range0°F to 50°F
CompressorSECOP; 5-yr compressor warranty
Power use (ICECO graphic)0.715 kWh/24h at 0°F, Max mode

Size / weight28.1 x 15.9 x 18.1 in; 52.2 lb

Pros

  • + Lowest cost per quart of the full-size fridges
  • + Steel body and SECOP compressor
  • + 5-year compressor warranty
  • + Lid opens from either side

Cons

  • − Heavy at 52.2 lb
  • − Single zone; doesn't go below 0°F
  • − Later delivery window when we checked

BLUETTI MultiCooler Portable Fridge

Best with a built-in ice maker

BLUETTI MultiCooler Portable Fridge portable fridge freezer
BLUETTI MultiCooler. Photo: BLUETTI listing.

BLUETTI: about $699 for the fridge alone ($699.00 on October 8, 2026)

The MultiCooler is the only fridge here that also makes ice. BLUETTI calls it a 3-in-1: a 42-quart fridge/freezer compartment, a separate 9.5-quart ice-making compartment and a bay for a battery. BLUETTI also claims it can cool from 86°F to 32°F in about 15 minutes, with a quiet 30 dB in fridge mode (45 dB while making ice). It rolls on wheels with a pull handle, has 45-degree tilt protection, and adds USB-C (100W) and USB-A outputs to charge your phone.

Now the important caveat. The MultiCooler was designed around BLUETTI's 716.8Wh B70 LiFePO4 battery, which BLUETTI rates for up to three days of cooling. On October 8, 2026, BLUETTI's own page marked the B70 battery and every MultiCooler + B70 bundle as discontinued; only the fridge itself was still offered at $699.00. Without the B70 it still runs from your car, a wall outlet or solar, but you lose the cord-free feature that made it special. If you already own a B70 or AC180T-system battery, it's a great fit; if not, the EcoFlow GLACIER Classic with its plug-in battery is the more complete package.

On cost per quart it's $16.64, counting only the 42-quart fridge compartment. It weighs 52.9 pounds.

Capacity42 qt fridge/freezer + 9.5 qt ice maker (50 qt / 55 L total)
Ice makerYes
Cool-down (BLUETTI claim)86°F to 32°F in 15 minutes
PowerCar, AC wall, solar, B70 battery (B70 listed as discontinued)
OutputsUSB-C 100W, USB-A 15W
Noise30 dB fridge / 45 dB ice making
Size / weight28 x 16.5 x 18.7 in (without wheels and draw bar); 52.9 lb
Warranty2 years

Pros

  • + Only pick here that makes ice
  • + Wheels and pull handle
  • + Lowest noise rating listed here (30 dB in fridge mode)
  • + USB-C charging port

Cons

  • − Its B70 battery was listed as discontinued when we checked
  • − Heaviest fridge here (52.9 lb)
  • − BLUETTI's US tech specs don't list a temperature range

EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 35L Portable Fridge Freezer

Best compact fridge for SUVs and solo trips

EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 35L Portable Fridge Freezer portable fridge freezer
EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 35L (dimensions as printed by EcoFlow). Photo: EcoFlow listing.

EcoFlow: about $699 for the fridge alone ($699.00 on October 8, 2026; $799.00 with one plug-in battery)

Same platform as our top pick, three inches shorter. The GLACIER Classic 35L shares the 45L's footprint (27.8 by 15.8 inches) but stands 15.9 inches tall instead of 18.9, so it slides under a cargo cover or behind a seat more easily. It holds 58 cans.

Because it's smaller, the same 298Wh plug-in battery runs it longer: EcoFlow rates up to 43 hours at 39°F, the longest battery runtime EcoFlow lists for the line. EcoFlow lists the dual-zone design for the 45L and 55L only and calls this one "variable dual temperature," so if two fully separate zones matter to you, step up to the 45L.

The catch is value: per quart it's the most expensive fridge in this guide ($18.89), because you pay for the same compressor, battery system and app in a smaller box. Buy it for the size, not to save money.

Capacity35 L (about 37 qt), 58 x 330 ml cans
ZonesVariable dual temperature (true dual zone is 45L/55L only)
Temperature range-4°F to 68°F
BatteryOptional 298Wh slide-in, up to 43 hr at 39°F
ChargingAC 95W, car 12/24V 100W, solar 110W
Size / weight27.8 x 15.8 x 15.9 in; 45 lb
Warranty2 years

Pros

  • + Lowest-profile EcoFlow model
  • + Longest EcoFlow battery runtime (43 hr)
  • + Same app, IPX4 and charging options

Cons

  • − Highest cost per quart here
  • − Not a true dual-zone model
  • − Still 45 lb empty

EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 55L Portable Fridge Freezer

Best big fridge for families and week-long trips

EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 55L Portable Fridge Freezer portable fridge freezer
EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 55L (dimensions as printed by EcoFlow). Photo: EcoFlow listing.

EcoFlow: about $849 for the fridge alone ($849.00 on October 8, 2026; $899.00 with two plug-in batteries)

The 55L is the biggest fridge in this guide: 90 cans, true dual zone, and the best cost per quart of any EcoFlow at $14.61. It's the same height as the 45L but 2.6 inches deeper (18.4 inches), so measure your cargo area before you buy.

Everything else carries over from our top pick: -4°F to 68°F, two zones up to 39.6°F apart, the slide-in 298Wh battery (up to 39 hours at 39°F per EcoFlow) and the same AC, car and solar charging. On October 8, 2026, the two-battery bundle was only $50.00 more than the fridge alone, which is worth it for anyone camping more than a weekend.

Capacity55 L (about 58.1 qt), 90 x 330 ml cans
ZonesDual zone
Temperature range-4°F to 68°F; zones can differ by up to 39.6°F
BatteryOptional 298Wh slide-in, up to 39 hr at 39°F
ChargingAC 95W, car 12/24V 100W, solar 110W
Size / weight27.8 x 18.4 x 18.9 in; 55.6 lb
Warranty2 years

Pros

  • + Biggest capacity here
  • + Best EcoFlow cost per quart
  • + True dual zone
  • + Two-battery bundle priced close to the bare fridge

Cons

  • − 55.6 lb empty
  • − Deeper than the 35L and 45L

BougeRV CR28 30-Quart 12V Refrigerator

Best budget 12V fridge

BougeRV CR28 30-Quart 12V Refrigerator portable fridge freezer
BougeRV CR28 30-quart 12V fridge. Photo: Amazon listing.

Amazon: about $208 ($207.56 on October 8, 2026, sold by BougeRV)

Not everyone needs a $700 fridge. If you just want cold drinks and lunch on the drive to the deer lease or the lake, the BougeRV CR28 is the cheapest real compressor fridge we found with a strong owner record: 4.7 out of 5 from 412 ratings on Amazon. At $207.56 it's $6.92 per quart, by far the lowest here.

BougeRV lists 30 quarts, a range of -8°F to 50°F, about 45 watts in ECO mode (60 in MAX) and a claim of 77°F to 32°F in 15 minutes. It runs on 12/24V DC or 110V AC (both cords included) and comes with a removable partition. At 24.26 pounds and 22.7 by 12.6 inches, it's the easiest fridge here to carry and fit.

What you give up: no battery option, no dual zone, a smaller box and a less-known brand behind it (BougeRV offers two years of tech support). For occasional trips it's a smart buy; for weeks off-grid, step up.

Capacity30 qt
Temperature range-8°F to 50°F
Power (BougeRV)About 45W ECO / 60W MAX

Size / weight22.68 x 12.60 x 15.53 in; 24.26 lb
Owner rating4.7/5 from 412 Amazon ratings

Pros

  • + Lowest price and cost per quart by far
  • + Light and compact
  • + Strong owner rating across 400+ ratings
  • + AC and DC cords included

Cons

  • − No battery option
  • − Smallest capacity here
  • − Single zone

Which should you buy?

What to look for in a portable fridge

Compressor, not thermoelectric

Every fridge in this guide uses a compressor, like your kitchen fridge, so it can hold a set temperature and freeze no matter how hot it is outside (within the maker's operating range; EcoFlow, for example, rates the GLACIER Classic for 14°F to 122°F ambient). Cheap thermoelectric "coolers" only cool a certain number of degrees below the outside air, which isn't enough for meat in July.

Single zone vs. dual zone

A single-zone fridge is one box at one temperature: fridge or freezer. A dual-zone fridge splits the space so you can freeze and refrigerate at the same time. If you want ice cream and cold drinks on the same trip, or you're bringing frozen meat for later in the week, dual zone is worth paying for. The EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 45L and 55L are the true dual-zone picks here.

Power: how much and from where

All of these run on 12/24V from your vehicle and on AC at home. What differs is what happens when the engine is off. Vehicle-battery protection (the Dometic's 3-stage system is a good example) shuts the fridge down before it drains your starting battery. A slide-in battery, like EcoFlow's 298Wh pack, lets the fridge run anywhere with no cord. You can also run any of these from a portable power station; EcoFlow's published figure of 165 Wh per day to hold 39°F at 77°F ambient is a useful baseline for sizing one. See our best portable power stations guide for options, and our EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 review if you want whole-camp power.

Do you even need a powered fridge?

For a weekend, a good rotomolded cooler and ice is cheaper and simpler. A powered fridge earns its price on longer trips, on hot days, when you need to freeze, or when you hate buying ice. If you're not there yet, start with our 20 best coolers for 2026. And for the rest of your camp list, see our camping must-haves.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best portable fridge freezer in 2026?

For most people, the EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 45L: a dual-zone compressor fridge (-4°F to 68°F) with an optional 298Wh slide-in battery rated for up to 39 hours at 39°F. It was $799.00 for the fridge alone at EcoFlow on October 8, 2026.

How long will a 12V fridge run on a car battery?

It depends on the fridge's draw, the outside temperature and your battery's size, which is why vehicle-battery protection matters: it shuts the fridge down before your starting battery is too low to crank the engine. The Dometic CFX2 has a 3-stage version. For hours off the engine, a separate battery or power station is the safer route.

How much power does a portable fridge use?

Makers that publish it give a useful baseline. EcoFlow lists 165 Wh per 24 hours to hold 39°F and 520 Wh per 24 hours to freeze, at 77°F ambient. ICECO's listing puts the VL45 ProS at 0.715 kWh per 24 hours running at 0°F in Max mode, and BougeRV lists about 45 watts in ECO mode for the CR28. Hot weather and frequent lid opening raise those numbers.

Is a dual-zone fridge worth it?

If you want to freeze and refrigerate at the same time, yes. A dual-zone fridge like the EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 45L or 55L lets one side hold frozen food while the other keeps drinks and produce cold. If you only ever need one or the other, a single-zone fridge is cheaper and simpler.

Can a portable fridge run on solar?

Yes. The EcoFlow GLACIER Classic accepts solar directly (11-30V, up to 110W), and the BLUETTI MultiCooler can be charged from solar too. EcoFlow recommends using its plug-in battery with solar so the fridge doesn't lose power when the sun drops. Any 12V fridge can also run from a solar-charged power station.

What size portable fridge do I need?

As a rough guide from the makers' can counts: a 30- to 35-quart fridge (BougeRV CR28, EcoFlow 35L) suits one or two people or day trips; 45 to 48 quarts (EcoFlow 45L, Dometic CFX2 45L, ICECO VL45 ProS) suits a couple or small family for a weekend; 55 liters and up (EcoFlow 55L) suits families or week-long trips.

The bottom line

For most campers, overlanders and road-trippers, the EcoFlow GLACIER Classic 45L is the portable fridge to buy: two zones, a range down to -4°F, published power numbers and a slide-in battery that lets it run anywhere. Wire-it-to-the-truck builds should look at the Dometic CFX2 45L, the best full-size value is the ICECO VL45 ProS, and the BougeRV CR28 is the smart budget buy for day trips.
