Is Ammunition Depot Legit? (Honest Review 2026)

You found a good price on ammo at Ammunition Depot, and now you want to know if it's safe to hand over your card. Fair question. Online ammo sellers come and go, some sites are outright fakes, and ammo is one purchase where a bad retailer can leave you with a canceled order, a restocking fee or a box that never shows up.

So we checked the things that actually tell you whether a retailer is legit: who owns it and where it is, what the Better Business Bureau and Trustpilot show, what the shipping, age and return rules really say, and whether the prices hold up. How we reviewed Ammunition Depot

This is a research-based review, not a story about one order. We read Ammunition Depot's About Us page, Purchasing Terms and Conditions, and Shipping & Returns policy line by line. We pulled the company's BBB profile and Trustpilot page. Then we picked one popular, new-production load in five calibers (9mm, 5.56 NATO, .223 Remington, .308 Winchester and 12 gauge) and recorded the sale price of every pack size on each product page, so we could compute a real price per round for a small box and for bulk. Ballistics and box photos come from the manufacturers, PMC and Winchester.

Who is Ammunition Depot?

Ammunition Depot is the trade name of Amdep Holdings, LLC, at 7000 West Palmetto Park Road, Suite 409, in Boca Raton, Florida. The company says it was founded in 2011 by Seth Weinstein and Dan Wolgin, and the BBB lists the business as started on April 6, 2011, with Daniel Wolgin as CEO and owner. It sells ammunition, bulk ammo, firearms (shipped to your FFL), magazines, optics, reloading supplies and gear. Customer service runs Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern, by phone at 800-518-9180, email and chat.

On its own pages, Ammunition Depot says it has made the Inc. 5000 list three years running and serves more than 650,000 visitors a month. Those are the company's claims. The independent signals are below.

Two things jump out. First, bulk usually pays: 23% less per round on 9mm, 23% on 5.56, 18% on .223 and 10% on .308. Second, bigger isn't always cheaper. The 800-round case of Winchester M193 cost more per round than the 400-round bundle, and the 200-shell case of Super Target cost a penny more per shell than the 100-pack. Ammunition Depot shows a price-per-round figure next to each option. Use it.

PMC Bronze is a plain, new-production brass range load from PMC in Houston, Texas, and it's the 9mm we'd stock for practice. A 50-round box is $16.49 ($0.33 a round). The 1,000-round case is $254.49, or $0.25 a round, about 23% less per shot. If price is all that matters, Ammunition Depot's cheapest 9mm listing when we checked was Sportsman's Select remanufactured 115-grain at $224.49 per 1,000 ($0.22 a round). Reviewers on that listing call it inexpensive range ammo but mention occasional duds and smoke, so we'd pay the extra few cents for new brass.

Winchester's M193 is the classic 5.56 range load for an AR-15, loaded to NATO pressure. Here's a pricing quirk worth knowing: the 200-round box was $141.49 ($0.71 a round), the 400-round range bundle $217.79 ($0.54 a round), but the 800-round case cost $511.99, which is $0.64 a round. The bigger pack was not the better deal that day. Always check the price-per-round number on each option before you click the biggest one. A 20-round box is $11.09 ($0.55 a round). The 1,000-round case is $454.49, $0.45 a round and about 18% less per shot. That case price also undercut the 5.56 M193 bundle by $0.09 a round.

Reviewers on the listing rate it 5 out of 5, and one reports groups under 0.8 MOA at 100 yards, which is impressive for plinking ammo. Shipping, age verification and restricted states

• Speed: Ammunition Depot says most orders ship within one business day. Its Shipping & Returns page says ground shipping is guaranteed within 14 days and is normally less than five.
• Free shipping: on orders over $149, up to $1,500, with code ADFS149 (listed through December 31, 2026 on its coupons page).
• Where it won't ship: nothing outside the continental United States, and no ammunition to PO boxes. No ammo to Alaska, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands (magazines only), no ammo to Hawaii (magazines 10 rounds max), and no shipping to Washington, D.C.
• Restricted states: California, Connecticut, Illinois (including Chicago and several suburbs), Massachusetts and New York have FFL or state-license requirements. Maryland, New Jersey and New York are limited to 10-round magazines, and Vermont to 15 (handgun) and 10 (long gun).

Returns: read this before you order

This is the part most buyers miss. Ammunition Depot accepts non-firearm returns for up to 7 days from delivery, and charges a 20% restocking fee (of the original price, less original shipping) unless the item arrived damaged. Sealed items like spam cans can't be returned once opened unless they're defective, food items are non-returnable, and once a firearm is transferred to you from your FFL, there are no returns. To start a return, you email customerservice@ammunitiondepot.com for an RMA and a prepaid label. Refunds go to your original payment method or store credit.

Also note: orders can't be modified or canceled once they're processing in the warehouse. Double-check caliber, quantity and address before you pay.

One caveat in fairness: Trustpilot notes the company hasn't invited customers to review recently, so the reviews may not be fully representative. The praise centers on fast shipping, fair prices, undamaged boxes and helpful service. The main complaint theme is advertised deals that turned out higher-priced or out of stock on the site.
